The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is a men's professional basketball league in the Philippines composed of twelve company-branded franchised teams. Founded in 1975, it is the first professional basketball league in Asia and is the second-oldest continuously operating professional basketball league in the world after North America's NBA.
Although the league doesn't have any contract with ABS-CBN Sports, the PBA had aired on other ABS-CBN's platforms. PBA was first aired internationally via ABS-CBN's TFC from the 2000's to 2011 before moving to TV5's Kapatid Channel when the latter's sports division (Sports5/One Sports) acquired the broadcast rights to the league.
From February to August 2011, the league was aired on Studio 23 under Solar Sports' contract due to a planned relaunch of Solar's free-to-air television network (Solar TV) with a new lineup aimed more towards women, resulting in the dropping of all other sports programming from its lineup before Solar's cable channel ETC replaces it. Solar decided not to renew it's contract with the PBA after Game 7 of the Governors' Cup Finals.
Since 2022, PBA is also streaming on ABS-CBN's streaming platform iWantTFC (except in the Philippines and USA) beginning with the 2022 PBA Philippine Cup,
From November 2023 to February 12, 2024, PBA, still under contract with One Sports, aired it's games on A2Z every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday due to TV5 shifting its focus for it's primetime programming with entertainment, news and movies, causing PBA to enter a lease agreement with ABS-CBN and ZOE Broadcasting Network earlier on October. During this period, ABS-CBN programs airing on A2Z, especially during primetime hours, were temporarily affected, leading to all weeknight primetime drama series pre-empted, and weekend primetime programs move to a later timeslot, however Kapamilya Channel remains unaffected. The first game aired in the afternoon and the 2nd game aired on the evening, with ABS-CBN News' TV Patrol and TV Patrol Weekend aired on their usual timeslot between the games.
