This page outlines the usage of citations on the ABS-CBN Wiki. Content should be based on reliable sources and are supported by inline citations where appropriate. Any material that is challenged and for which no source is provided may be removed by any editor.
When and why to cite[]
References should be included in an article when support or clarification is needed on a subject matter. This is to provide proof that it is right and can be verified.
Where to cite[]
References must be added in the artist's history, career, trivia sections or where ever information needs support. They do not, however, have to be added for common knowledge information (eg. The sky is blue) and content like image/video teasers, album information & release dates (which can be easy to find & readily available from artist's SNS and music platform).
Where to get information from[]
Acceptable sources[]
- ABS-CBN
- Official social media accounts of ABS-CBN and its subsidiaries
- News & media outlets (including ABS-CBN's own news organization, ABS-CBN News)
Unacceptable[]
- Wikipedia
How to cite[]
Source editor is recommended for citing sources. The recommended template to use is {{Cite web}}.
Inserting a reference[]
On the first usage of a reference, insert the following code:
<ref name="Reference name">Reference content</ref>
Replace the placeholders with the appropriate content:
Reference name
- When working on long articles or collaborations, users are encouraged to use full titles as reference names to prevent accidental duplicates of a reference, though this is not a requirement. This is not necessary on shorter articles, and abbreviations are acceptable.
Reference content
- Replace this with the actual content of your reference.
- Reference content should always be defined in the first instance of the reference, even if the MediaWiki reference handler will work when this is not the case.
- For rules and guidelines regarding the formatting of reference content, please see below.
Examples:
<ref name="TVP">''[[TV Patrol]]''</ref>
Reusing a reference[]
Individual references only need to be defined once. Upon subsequent insertations of the same reference, use the following code:
<ref name="Reference name" />
Examples:
<ref name="TVP" />
Listing[]
At the end of the page, create a section and include the code {{Reflist}}
or <references />
. This will create a numbered listing of your citations.
When there are none[]
If there is no citation on a sentence or paragraph you believe needs clarification, you can add the template {{Citation needed}}
at the end. This can be removed once a reference is added.
If the section lacks references, you can add the template {{Unreferenced}}
at the beginning of the section.
